People Incorporated Housing Group

The People Incorporated Housing Group was founded in 2003, as an affiliate organization to better meet housing needs throughout the region. The SVHC is state-certified as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) to access additional resources and expand the availability of affordable housing throughout Virginia.

History
The People Incorporated Housing Group works in partnership with People Incorporated and other investors to increase the availability of affordable rental housing in the service area. Working in partnership with the Northeast Tennessee/Virginia HOME Consortium, which is comprised of local governments from the City of Bristol, Virginia, as well as other counties and cities in Northeast Tennessee, the People Incorporated Housing Group has undertaken a project to purchase and rehabilitate existing homes in the city of Bristol, Virginia. Once rehabilitated, the homes will be sold to participants in People Incorporated’s Homeownership program. The proceeds from the sales will be used to purchase and rehabilitate additional homes, creating a revolving fund designed to increase the availability of affordable housing throughout the region.
