People Incorporated is now seeking nominations for its annual community awards from the regions it serves. Anyone is invited to submit a nomination by May 30.
“We realize that serving our communities is a group effort,” said People Inc. President and CEO Bryan Phipps. “We are glad to have the opportunity to recognize those who have dedicated their lives to helping others.”
People Inc. honors two community members with awards every year. The Garland Thayer Award recognizes the achievements of a paid professional working to improve the lives of economically disadvantaged community members. Last year’s award was given to Dr. Shannon Grimsley, superintendent of Rappahannock County Public Schools. The Thayer Award is named after People Inc.’s first executive director.
The Fount and Thelma Henderson Award recognizes an outstanding volunteer or group of volunteers for their work to improve the lives of economically disadvantaged community members. The Henderson Award is named in honor of People Inc.’s first chairman of the board of directors, Fount Henderson, and his wife Thelma, who were passionate volunteers at the organization for many years. Last year, Dr. Noel Laing of the Rappahannock Food Pantry was honored with the Henderson Award.
People Inc. has been in the business of changing lives since 1964 and is proud to recognize two new community members for their selfless work during its 60th anniversary. For more information and to submit a nomination by May 30, click here.
