Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace

Community Benefits:

People Incorporated is the developer and owner of the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace (formerly Heartwood) facility, home to the area’s largest eclectic collections of craft from some of Southwest Virginia’s most talented artisans. Located in Abingdon, Virginia, on eight acres alongside Interstate 81, the 29,000-square-foot LEED-certified building serves as a visitor center, retail center for local crafts, music venue, and community space.

The center is also home to Round the Mountain, Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Network, and the Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail and serves as a performance place for traditional acoustic string music.

The Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace was created to market Southwest Virginia as a single, unified destination to benefit the economy of the entire region. The building and its combined initiatives contribute to a sustainable economy by highlighting the unique natural assets of the region. Visit the center’s website at swvaculturalcenter.com.
