People Incorporated Expands Housing and Survivor Support Services with New State and Federal Funding

People Incorporated has secured more than $570,000 in new funding to strengthen housing stability and survivor support services across Southwest Virginia.

The funding includes a $522,500 award from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development to support the Virginia Down Payment Assistance Pilot Program. This program helps eligible households earning below 60 percent of the Area Median Income overcome one of the biggest barriers to homeownership, the upfront cost of a down payment.

Through this investment, more individuals and families will be able to take meaningful steps toward long-term housing stability and financial security.

Continued Support for Survivors of Domestic Violence

In addition to housing assistance, People Incorporated received two grants totaling $47,724 to continue critical services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

These include $33,000 through the Sexual Assault Services Program and $14,724 through the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance VSTOP program. These funds will support survivor services throughout calendar year 2026 in Russell and Buchanan counties, beginning January 1.

Strengthening Stability, Safety, and Community Well-Being

Together, these investments reflect People Incorporated’s ongoing commitment to housing stability, personal safety, and community well-being. By expanding access to homeownership assistance and survivor support services, People Incorporated continues working alongside individuals and families to build safer, more secure futures.
