Stacy Barnette left a long career in pharmaceuticals to pursue a deep passion for arts and creative expression. But rather than looking for a role in a museum or gallery, she trusted her intuition and pursued a path that blends arts and entrepreneurship, while creating deep and lasting connection to the local community.
As the owner of Painting Outside the Lines Studio in Pennington Gap, Virginia, she offers sip and paint classes where friends, co-workers, bridal parties and more gather to brush up on their artistic skills while enjoying a friendly social gathering. The studio also partners with local nonprofits to offer fundraising events that support important causes and initiatives.
“Art is therapeutic,” said Stacy. “It makes people happy, brings them together with friends and family, opens the door to creative expression, and as the owner I get to see the joy that it brings them.”
As a first-time business owner, Stacy was concerned about the likelihood of a large bank approving her for a loan. “My friends at Stone Mountain Yogurt told me about People Incorporated and how they help small businesses with loans and guidance.”
Painting Outside the Lines Studio went from dream to reality with the help of a loan through People Inc. Stacy found that the process was easy to understand, and submitting the necessary paperwork was seamless. The team at People Inc. helped with everything from inventory to marketing and the securing the loan.
With a business that is successful, growing and already looking for expansion, Stacy encourages other entrepreneurs to never let money be a stopping point on the journey to making their dreams come true.
