Bri’s journey into the healthcare field began unexpectedly. She was working as a housekeeper and struggling to keep up with her bills when a friend referred her to People Incorporated’s Workforce Development program.
Bri was eager for any career that could help support her and her family. She worked closely with the program and took different career assessments, finally discovering she wanted to pursue the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) career path. Her Workforce Development Specialist guided her through every step of the process, including enrolling in training, and was even able to help pay for the costs of the training through the program. “I wouldn’t have even known where to begin,” said Bri. “Anything that I needed help with, she was right there.”
As Bri delved into her CNA training, she discovered a natural gift for healthcare. “I really have a passion for wanting to help people,” said Bri. “The smile that I bring to people’s faces is everything to me.”
The Workforce Development program helped Bri map out a pathway that included setting and achieving goals. Bri’s first goal was to complete the CNA program, which opened doors to new opportunities and solidified her interest in healthcare.
Bri’s journey didn’t stop at becoming a CNA. With People Incorporated’s support, she set sights on becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse and eventually a Registered Nurse. Her ultimate dream is to specialize in labor and delivery, driven by the desire to make a big difference in people’s lives.
The impact of Bri’s career on her family is huge. As the primary breadwinner, she takes pride in providing for her family. “I’m doing this for my son, so that he can watch me and grow up with an example of how hard work pays off,” said Bri. People Incorporated also assisted her husband in finding employment.
As she continues her education and career in healthcare, Bri remains committed to setting goals and striving for excellence. “If it wasn’t for People Inc.,” Bri reflects, “I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
