People Incorporated is now receiving nominations for their annual community awards which recognize the exceptional accomplishments of community leaders, advocates, and volunteers in their service region.
The Garland Thayer Award is given to individuals who have made a significant impact in improving the livelihoods of low-income people through their paid position or employment with an organization. Past recipients of this award have established new programs, services, or organizations that align with People Inc.’s mission. The award is named after Garland Thayer, the agency’s founding Executive Director.
The Henderson Award is presented to a volunteer or group of volunteers who have made significant and long-lasting contributions to aid economically disadvantaged communities. This award is named in honor of Fount and Thelma Henderson, who were dedicated supporters of People Incorporated’s mission and worked tirelessly alongside Garland Thayer to mobilize community support.
Nominations for both awards can be submitted online by clicking here or by contacting Rachel Fogg at rfogg@peopleinc.net. Nominations will be open from October 1, 2022, and the awards will be presented in July.
People Incorporated was established in 1964 as a community action agency in the rural region of Hayter’s Gap in Washington County. The organization has been devoted to promoting economic growth for 60 years.
