People Incorporated’s domestic violence coordinator Chelsea Owens and domestic violence advocate MaryBeth Burkes recently spoke to WCYB about their work with survivors of domestic violence and the need for ongoing support.
“I have a lot of clients, victims who say if our services weren’t there, they wouldn’t have anywhere to go,” said People Inc. Domestic Violence Advocate for Buchanan County Mary Beth Burkes. “So victims are fleeing domestic violence situations and they have to have a place to go with their children and so our women’s shelter provides that for them.”
