Growing childcare crisis could threaten Southwest Virginia’s workforce and families

People Incorporated’s Director of Child and Family Development sat down with WCYB-TV in Abingdon to discuss the national childcare crisis, how it impacts rural Virginians, and how Head Start serves the most in need.

“One of the reasons that people can’t work is if they don’t have child care, they can’t go and they can’t afford child care, which doesn’t make it feasible for them,” said Sharon Shuttle, Director of Child and Family Development at People Incorporated. “They’re not going to have that option.”
